2013 is the year when the Royal Air Force celebrates 100 years of military aviation in the Netherlands. A highlight of the anniversary year was the Air Force Days at Volkel Air Base. In the 100 years that the air force operates from the Netherlands, it has continuously proven its usefulness and value.
The air arms underwent major changes in this century. From a wooden plane into an organization with fighter jets, transport aircraft, helicopters. On March 28, 2013 is the 100th years ago that the War Department invested 310,000 gulden for a airfield at Soesterberg and to transfer the air arms to the new airfield.
