During a trip through America with 4Aviation, we visited NAS Whiting Field in the state Florida.
Naval Air Station Whiting Field is located near Milton and is one of the Navy's two primary pilot training bases (the other being NAS Corpus Christi, Texas). NAS Whiting Field also provides training for U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Air Force student pilots, as well as those of several allied nations. NAS Whiting Field is home to Training Air Wing 5 (TAW-5).
NAS Whiting Field is actually two airfields sharing a common support base. Primary Flight Training student aviators fly the T-6B Texan II from North Whiting Field while Advanced Helicopter Training takes place utilizing the TH-57C Sea Ranger at South Whiting Field.
There 3 squadrons flying with the T-8B, namely VT-2, VT-3 and VT-6. The TH-57C are also divided over 3 squadrons, HT-8, HT-18 and HT-28. On the 2 airframes there are no markings indicating the squadrons, only TAW-5 is visible.
Also here they are starting to put sun sheets on the North side of the airfield.
I would like to thank Lieutenant Junior Grade Clemente and the public affairs office for this photo shoot.
